The first woman to be dean for student affairs, Dr. Carola B. Eisenberg, was appointed in 1972. In her leisure she does needlepoint and she discovered that at the same time she was working on a version of the MIT seal, a student, Albert L. Oliver Jr. ['76, Architecture], had undertaken the same project.
