Linda C. Sharpe, the first African-American woman president of the MIT Alumni Association, leads the procession down the steps of 77 Mass. Ave. with MIT President Susan Hockfield and Dana G. Mead, chairman of the MIT Corporation, right behind her, 3 June 2005.
Linda Carolyn Sharpe '69 earned a Bachelors in Political Science from MIT in 1969, and from 1970 to 1975 completed PhD coursework and exams in the field.
She is currently a Transportation Program Analyst at DIGITALiBiz, Inc.
A co-founder of the MIT Black Students' Union and the first African American woman to serve as president of the MIT Alumni/ae Association, Sharpe continues to serve the MIT community in a variety of capacities:
